DuVall Students Hold Anti-Bullying Flash Mobs

Students danced to Katy Perry's "Firework" in public to promote acceptance of their peers.

A group of students and staff held flash mobs at a school function and during the over the weekend in an effort to "take a stand against bullying," according to their YouTube site.

The third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students were joined by staff in performing a surprise dance routine to Katy Perry's hit song "Firework."

Flash mobs are sudden, public gatherings or performances meant to make a statement–usually about a political or social issue, but sometimes just for fun or satirical purposes.

According to the site, "They held a flash mob to 'Firework' ... because the song speaks about loving who you are. They worked on loving themselves and the differences in others.

"Through the flash mobs, the students hope to show unity in the fight against bullying."
