Dearborn Schools to Reveal Plan to Honor Slain Employee

Dearborn Public Schools Business Services Director Robert Cipriano was killed April 16 in a home invasion and attack.

Dearborn Public Schools announced Friday that the district is ready to unveil a plan to pay tribute to slain Business Services Director Robert Cipriano and carry on his mission of serving students in the district.

“We wanted to create an event that will honor the work that Bob did in Dearborn, help his family, and benefit a large number of Dearborn students,” Dearborn Public Schools Supt. Brian Whiston said in a statement.

The plan will be announced at on Wednesday, May 23.

Cipriano, 52, was killed in an that also left his son, Salvatore, and his wife, Rose, seriously injured. , although their conditions are reportedly improving.

Salvatore's twin brother, Tanner, and sister Isabella, 8, were not injured.

The Ciprianos' 19-year-old son Tucker and his 20-year-old friend Mitchell Young were arrested in connection with the crimes. They will appear in court again on May 23.

Cipriano had been with DPS since July 2000, and was responsible for managing the district’s $200 million budget and oversaw district athletics.
