Dearborn's Edsel Ford High School to Present 'Babes In Arms'

The musical will take place April 18-20 at the Edsel Ford High School auditorium.

By Leslie Herrick

Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart's classic musical Babes in Arms will take over the stage at Edsel Ford High School at 7 p.m., April 18-20.

The plot follows a group of young theater apprentices and their conviction to mount the original revue they've created while dodging the underhanded attempts of the surly theater owner to squash their efforts at every turn. Further complications are provided by the overbearing stage mother of a beautiful ex-child star and the inflated ego of a southern playwright. But of course the show must go on, and so it does in a resolution of comeuppance, reconciliation, and romance.

The EFHS Performing Arts Department will present this classic musical, which has an appeal for all ages. Students from Snow Elementary, O.L. Smith Middle School and other Dearborn Public Schools will also be featured in the chorus and dance scenes for the show.

Babes in Arms premiered on Broadway in 1937. EFHS will present the 1959 version. Tickets are $6 for students and seniors, and $8 for general admission if purchased in advance. Tickets at the door are $8 for students and seniors, and $10 for general admission.

Box office hours are Monday through Friday from 2:30 to 6 p.m. beginning April 10.
