Darany's House Concurrent Resolution 29 Reported Out From Senate Committee

HCR 29 was voted out of the Senate committee on Feb. 21 with a recommendation that the resolution be passed by the full Senate.

Representative George T. Darany (D-Dearborn) testified in support of his House Concurrent Resolution 29 during the Senate Committee on Veterans, Military Affairs, and Homeland Security on Feb. 21. The resolution urges the US Department of Defense to apply uniform standards when awarding the Purple Heart Award so that it applies to individuals with traumatic brain injuries. HCR 29 was voted out of the Senate committee with a recommendation that the resolution be passed by the full Senate.

"I am pleased that the committee voted out HCR 29 yesterday with a recommendation that the resolution be passed by the full Senate. No matter the type of injury, every veteran who has been wounded in combat has displayed heroic devotion to defend our country and they are without a doubt deserving of recognition for their sacrifices. This is another positive step to help ensure that all members of the United States Armed Forces who are wounded in battle are honored with the Purple Heart medal they deserve for defending our freedom and safety. I thank the committee members for their support and look forward to HCR 29 being passed by the Senate." - Rep. Darany
