Where Do I Vote in Dearborn for the Presidential Primary?

Polls will be open 7 a.m.-8 p.m. in Dearborn on Feb. 28 for the primary, and absentee ballots are still available.

While Dearborn City Clerk Kathy Buda said her office is expecting a low turnout for the Feb. 28 presidential primary elections, it's still important for residents to know where to go to vote.

All 50 Dearborn precincts will be open on Tuesday from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Unlike November's election, no consolidation of precincts will take place, in accordance with federal law.

Absentee ballots will be available for request through Saturday, Feb. 25, and must be turned in by 8 p.m. on Election Day. The City Clerk's office, located on the bottom floor of Dearborn City Hall, will be open from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Feb. 25 to accomodate absentee voters.

Because the primary will be conducted as a "closed" primary, voters must request a specific party's ballot at the polls. Voters do not have to be registered to a specific party to take part in the primary, but under Public Act 163 of 2011, they must indicate in writing whether they wish to vote a Republican or Democratic ballot.

Voters will not be required to select a political party ballot in writing for the August primary or November election.

Michigan voters are required to show photo ID, either a driver's license or state issued ID, at the polls. If you forget, or do not have an acceptable form of ID, you can still vote, but must sign a brief affidavit stating that you're not in possession of a photo ID.
