Wayne County Offering Free Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Day June 22

A free Household Hazardous Waste Day for Wayne County residents, including Dearborn residents, takes 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 22 at Henry Ford Community College, 5101 Evergreen Road in Dearborn. Proof of Wayne County residency is required.

Only household generated products from Wayne County residents will be accepted.

Accepted items include: paints, stains, dyes, glue, carpet cleaner, furniture polish, bathroom cleaners, stain removers, solvents, pharmaceutical waste, fertilizer, lawn and garden chemicals, antifreeze, motor oil, automotive and dry cell batteries, fluorescent bulbs, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and mercury thermometers.

Also accepted are pieces of electronic equipment such as computer CPUs, monitors, printers, scanners, keyboards, keyboard mice, cell phones, fax machines, copiers and televisions.

Items not accepted include: explosives, ammunition, shock sensitive materials, household trash, refrigerators, microwaves or other appliances, tires, yard waste and concrete.

Recycle a mercury thermometer and receive a safe digital thermometer in exchange.
