Wayne County Free Summer Lunch Program Benefits Dearborn Families

Low-income families can receive free lunch through Aug. 16 at several sites in Dearborn and Dearborn Heights.

The Wayne County Department of Public Health has begun its annual summer food service for children, teenagers and young adults. The program distributes free, nutritious lunches to residents at 21 community sites including Dearborn and Dearborn Heights.

Meals are served weekdays through Aug. 16, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. For Dearborn and Dearborn Heights residents, meals are available at:

  • Academy for Business and Technology, 5277 Calhoun St. in Dearborn.
  • Ford Woods Park, Greenfield and Donald streets in Dearborn.
  • Lapeer Park, 10000 Lapeer St. in Dearborn.
  • Morningside Park, Wyoming & Morningside streets in Dearborn.
  • Global Elementary School, 23713 Joy Road, Dearborn Heights.

“This program helps Wayne County families stretch their hard-earned food dollars during economically-challenging times by providing thousands of meals each year,” said Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano. “Most importantly, children are able to receive wholesome, healthy and enjoyable lunches during the summer—nutritional meals they might not otherwise get.”
