Low Turnout Expected in Dearborn for Presidential Primaries

Dearborn's city clerk estimates that only around 20 percent of registered voters will cast a ballot Feb. 28.

Though Dearborn's population of 98,000 includes around 60,000 registered voters, don't expect to see long lines at the polls come Feb. 28.

City Clerk Kathy Buda estimates that, like in previous primary elections, voter turnout for the presidential primaries next Tuesday will hover around 20 percent. This number includes both absentee ballots and voter turnout at the polls.

Compare that to 2008's Nov. 4 Election Day, which saw 42,206 Dearborn residents show up at the polls–almost 70 percent of registered voters.
