Labor Day 2013: What’s Closed in Dearborn

Labor Day is Monday, Sept. 2; here is a list of what's open and what government offices are closed.

Labor Day is held on the first Monday in September each year.

Unofficially the last day of summer, the holiday, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, "constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country."

• The Dearborn Public Library is closed

All Dearborn public libraries will be closed on Sunday, Sept. 1 and Monday, Sept. 2 in recognition of Labor Day. The libraries will be open again for normal hours on Sept. 3.

Courts, City Hall, Dearborn Ice Skating Center, Ford Community & Performing Arts Center Closed

The 19th District Court, Dearborn Ice Skating Center, and the Ford Community and Performing Center is closed on Monday, Sept. 2. Trash pick-up will be delayed one day for the rest of the week. 

Banks and Post Office

All federal and state offices are also closed Sept. 2, which includes the Post Office and local banks.
