Dearborn Firefighters Endorse Abbatt for District Judge

One of Dearborn's most prominent unions has voiced support for attorney Candyce Abbatt for the 19th District Judge seat.

Dearborn attorney and judge candidate Candyce Abbatt has received a big endorsement, her campaign announced Tuesday.

The Dearborn Firefighters IAF Local 412 has announced their currently occupied by Judge Richard Wygonik, which is up for election this year.

“My family has been strong supporters of all first responders in our hometown for many years–participating in burn drives, selling raffle tickets, and sponsoring the corn booth at the Dearborn Homecoming," Abbatt said of the endorsement in a statement. "Nothing touches my heart more than the support of the Dearborn firefighters in my race for district judge."

The endorsement comes just after opponent and fellow Dearborn attorney Sam Salamey .

“This is a race to restore order and dignity to our district court which has been in turmoil for years due to a lack of leadership on the bench," Abbatt continued. "This endorsement is extremely important and I’m most grateful to union president Joey Thorington and the Dearborn firefighters for their confidence in me."
