Dearborn Adopts New Fees for Planning Commission

Fees for site plans, rezoning requests and other services will go into effect immediately.

Dearborn residents who petition the city's Planning and Zoning Commissions for services will have to pay a larger fee beginning this month.

The Dearborn City Council voted 5-0 on April 16 to adopt a new set of fees based on surveying 13 southeastern Michigan communities with similar populations, including Canton, Troy, and Ann Arbor.

"A lot of the planning and zoning service fees in other communities were higher than ours. We have to recoup our costs associated with our services as well," council president Thomas Tafelski said.
