What are two key issues in Dearborn?

• Property values and taxes

• Recreation

How will you address these issues?

Five-Point Plan on Addressing Property Values and Taxes
  1. Promote residential property values with smart and effective ordinance enforcement and promoting home ownership versus rental property.
  2. Implementing business incubators to revive our key commercial districts.
  3. Let’s address Dearborn’s glut of empty office space by implementing programs to fill them with business and employees.
  4. Let’s promote efficient and effective code enforcement that is fair and user friendly.
  5. Cracking down on unfair tax practices before they burden our residents and businesses.
Recreation

Let’s keep our children safe and healthy with the top-notch recreational opportunities and schools. Dearborn must expect and provide the best for our children. Dearborn has proven that when we invest in our children, we not only produce the best and brightest, but also prevent social problems such as gangs, poverty, health risks and criminal activity.

Dearborn must continue to distinguish itself as a place where families in all of our neighborhoods can grow and prosper. For generations, Dearborn has been defined by its exceptional recreational opportunities and services. We must adapt to changing needs and funding models to maintain Dearborn’s tradition as well as its competitive edge.

It’s simply not good enough to state that programs and services like our pools must be eliminated. We can and must do better.
