Wrong-Way Driver Causes Accident on Southfield Freeway

A 74-year-old Lincoln Park woman is being questioned by Dearborn Police for driving the wrong way on the Southfield Freeway on April 29.

According to police reports, the woman was driving a 2008 Mercury Sable north in the southbound lane of the freeway between Rotunda Drive and Oakwood Boulevard at about noon, when she struck another vehicle.

Police said two other vehicles were involved in the accident after they crashed while attempting to avoid the woman.

The accident caused police to shut down the freeway for several hours in order to clean up vehicle debris.

Three of the four drivers, including the woman, were taken to Oakwood Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Police said the woman has not been formally charged with a crime because officers have not been able to speak with her about the accident.
