VIDEO: Dearborn Supermarket Targeted in Break-In, Theft

Dearborn police are requesting the public's assistance in identifying a man who reportedly broke into Brothers Supermarket on Chase Road last week.

Dearborn police are requesting the public's assistance in helping to identify a man seen on video breaking into a local business last Saturday.

According to police, officers responded to on Chase Road just after 6 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, when the security alarm for the business was tripped.

The front window of the business had been smashed, and the owner confirmed that several items–including multiple packs of cigarettes, currency from a tip jar, and an unknown amount of phone cards–were taken from the shop.

Surveillance video of the business was retrieved, and showed the whole crime.

A described the man as a black male. Dearborn police are now describing the suspect in the break-in is a white male in his 30s, approximately 5-foot-7, with a thin build. The video shows him wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, faded blue jeans and dark shoes.

Also captured in video outside the shop was a car believed to be the getaway vehicle. Police said it was identified as a white Chrysler PT Cruiser with wooden side panels. It's believed to be a model from the years 2003-2005.

Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad has asked that the public view surveillance video from the robbery in an attempt to identify the man. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Dearborn Police Department Tip Line at 313-943-3012.
