Two Detroit men have been charged with attempted armed robbery and felony use of a firearm following an incident that took place at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday on Payne Street.
According to police, Miran Delon Belyue, 19, and Darnell Thomas Brown, 20, ran up to a resident as he was walking from his vehicle to his front porch. One of the men placed a handgun to the resident's head and told him to “Give us what you have!” The second man held the resident and starting grabbing at his pockets.
The resident fought back against the attackers, but was hit on the head with the pistol. A neighbor who witnessed the crime followed the men in his car and provided a description to police.
Both men were arrested two blocks from the crime scene.
Belyue and Brown will attend a preliminary examination at 9 a.m. Sept. 20 at the 19th District Court, where it will be determined if they will stand trial in Wayne County Circuit Court.
Both men are being held on a $25,000 cash bond.
“This type of violent crime will not be tolerated in the city of Dearborn. Thanks to an observant citizen and the excellent police work of our officers two violent subjects have be taken off the streets," chief Ronald Haddad said.
