Two Detroit residents face charges in connection with a robbery at an apartment complex on the city’s east side, according to a press release from the .
Wilbert McKeever, 41, of Detroit, was arraigned on charges of unarmed robbery, aggravated assault and habitual offender third offense in 19th District Court. In addition, Jennifer Craven, 23, of Detroit, was arraigned on a charge of unarmed robbery.
The bond for McKeever, whom Dearborn police said is on parole and is a registered sex offender, was set at $250,000 cash surety. Craven has a $100,000 cash surety bond.
Both McKeever and Craven face a preliminary exam in on Aug. 3.
Police arrested McKeever and Craven after the two allegedly robbed a 53-year-old Dearborn man on July 17.
According to the press release, McKeever allegedly punched the victim repeatedly at the apartment complex in east Dearborn while Craven took money from the victim. McKeever and Craven fled in a green minivan.
The victim was treated for his injuries at a hospital and was released on the same day.
After an investigation, Dearborn police apprehended McKeever and Craven without incident at their Detroit home on July 19.
"This type of street crime has never been, and will never be tolerated in the City of Dearborn," Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said in the release. "We're all safer when opportunistic predators are made to answer in court for their actions."
