2 Dearborn Men Arrested for Home Invasion

Two Dearborn residents have been arrested and charged for breaking into an east Dearborn home Friday night.

Mouhamad Ahmad Bazzi and Wesam Mohamed Katip, both 23, have been charged with second degree home invasion, one count of larceny, three counts of stealing a financial transaction device and one count of receiving and concealing stolen property.

The heaviest of those charges–home invasion–is a 15-year felony. If convicted on all counts, the men could face more than 20 years in prison.

Dearborn Police responded to a call about a home invasion at 1 a.m. Saturday at 7267 Pinehurst. According to police reports, the homeowner had been out all evening at a wedding and came home to find their residence had been broken into and several items, including credit cards, had been stolen.

Surveillance video of the area showed two men near the home with the items in hand. They left in a white Buick, and witnesses were able to provide information leading officers to the vehicle. Subsequently, two men were located and arrested.

Several items were recovered, including credit cards and identification belonging to the homeowner.

Bazzi and Katip were arraigned before Judge Richard Wygonik at the , and their bond was set at $10,000 each.

A preliminary examination has been set for 9 a.m. April 15 at the courthouse.
