Trio Nabbed for Dearborn Armed Robbery Plead Guilty to Charges

Three Detroit residents who were arrested last September for an armed robbery in Dearborn have pleaded guilty to the charges, the Dearborn Police Department announced Wednesday.

Jonathon Dewayne Colvin, Joshua Isaiah Johnson and Michael Lee Williams came before Third Circuit Court Judge James Callahan on Monday, Feb. 11. The charges against included armed robbery and carrying concealed weapons.

Their sentences are forthcoming.

Williams, 17; Colvin, 18; and Johnson, 23, were arrested following an incident on the 7800 block of Indiana Street in Dearborn on Sept. 9, 2012.

According to police, two Dearborn residents were sitting on the porch of their home on Indiana Street on Saturday night when two men approached them, brandishing handguns and demanding the cell phone one person was holding. The men then got into a vehicle and drove off.

The victims immediately called Dearborn police, who were able to locate the vehicle at a party store in Detroit, where they arrested Williams, Colvin and Johnson. Police also confiscated two handguns, and recovered a cell phone from the men.

Williams is set to be sentenced on Feb. 26; Colvin on May 6; and JOhnson on May 7.

Following the arrest last September, Dearborn Chief of Police Ronald Haddad commended his team and the victims for the arrests.

"With the help of the victims, our officers arrested multiple violent offenders who were likely active in several nearby communities," Haddad said in a statement. "We're pleased to see this type of arrest that results in a safer quality of life for not only Dearborn residents but those in surrounding communities as well."
