Suspect Nabs Purse from Elderly Woman at Dearborn Kroger

Dearborn police officers seek public's help to identify suspect.

Dearborn police are asking for the public's help to identify a suspect who allegedly stole a wallet and purse from an 86-year-old woman at the Kroger store at 15255 Michigan Ave. on Aug. 21.

According to police, the customer was shopping at Kroger and had her wallet in her purse. When she attempted to pay for her items, the wallet was gone.

The woman believes someone removed her wallet while she was busy looking at merchandise in the store. The credit card was used at a gas station in Dearborn located at 12921 Michigan Ave. immediately after the theft.

Dearborn police released several photographs of the suspect using the woman's credit card. Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect should contact the Dearborn Police Department tip line at 313-943-3012.

“Criminals are always looking for an opportunity to make their move. Citizens should keep their personal belongings close at hand and pay attention to their surroundings," chief Ronald Haddad said.
