UPDATE: Two Suspects in Beauty Store Robbery, Murder Apprehended

Dearborn Police on Friday morning arrested one of three people believed to have been involved in the murder of a local store owner. The second of three was arrested Friday evening.

Police have arrested two men who they believe were involved in the murder of longtime Dearborn business owner Jay Shin, as well as the robbery of Shin's store.

The first was apprehended at 11 a.m. Friday morning; the second, at 7 p.m. that evening. Neither man's name has been released.

The suspects are two of the three people believed to have been involved in the robbery of on Schaefer Road, as well as the subsequent shooting that left 60-year-old Shin dead the morning of Tuesday, March 15.

Dearborn police received a call at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday from someone who had come into the store, who told police that the store has possibly been robbed and the owner was in need of medical attention.

The store owner was dead upon police arrival.

Approximately 80 Velvet Remi brand hair extensions were stolen from the store, said Dearborn Police Lt. Patricia Penman. The hairpieces were valued at $120-135 each.

Along with the arrest of two possible suspects Friday, police say they may have identified the getaway car–a silver Mercury Milan. The car, police said, may have been obtained in an armed carjacking in Detroit.

The community, said Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad in a statement, "was instrumental in providing valuable leads in this investigation."

Dearborn police worked in conjunction with the U.S. marshals and Detroit Police Department in the arrest of the first suspect, and are still seeking information on the remaining two suspects.

Police said witnesses described two men and a woman involved in the crime. They say the woman was black with curly hair and was possibly the getaway driver.

Update–10 a.m. Monday, March 21: According to representatives from the Wayne County Prosecutor's office, Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Tanaka Jayvon Wells, 19, and Ronnie Lamont Matthews, 18, both of Detroit, in connection with the March 15 robbery and shooting that left Dearborn businessman Jay Shin dead.

The charges for both are felony murder and three counts of armed robbery each. If convicted, they face life in prison.

Wells has also been charged with a felony firearm posession, a charge which holds a two-year sentence if convicted.

An arraignment of both suspects is expected to take place at 11 a.m. Monday at the in Dearborn.
