UPDATE: Suspect Charged in Dearborn Beauty Store Robbery

A preliminary exam for 28-year-old Dwion Wasson of Detroit will be held Sept. 30.

UPDATE, Sept. 23: Dwion Anthony Wasson, a 28-year-old Detroit resident, was arraigned Thursday at the on two counts of armed robbery and one count of felony firearm.

Wasson is being held on a $200,000 bond. His preliminary exam has been set for Sept. 30 at 9 a.m.

A call for public assistance yielded an arrest in the Monday robbery of an east Dearborn beauty store, police reported Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Dearborn police sent a notice to local media outlets in identifying a man suspected of robbing in Dearborn on Monday afternoon. According to reports, the man entered the store and demanded money from the cash registers, holding two employees at gunpoint. He escaped with the money, but was caught on surveillance camera.

Dearborn police said Wednesday that the airing of video, photos and a description of the man provided by employees resulted in a tip being called in to the Detroit Police Department. The tip helped police to identify and arrest a 28-year-old Detroit resident suspected of committing the crime.

Police said that the man may also be responsible for robberies in Detroit and Redford, and thanked the media and citizens for their assistance.

The suspect's name has not been released pending formal charges being filed against him with the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.
