Strangers in Dearborn Man's Yard Claim to be DTE Workers

The following information was supplied by the Dearborn Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A Dearborn man returned home Wednesday to find three suspicious people in his yard, according to Dearborn police reports.

The man pulled up in front of his house on the 3300 block of Walwit just after 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 30 and immediately noticed that three men were standing near his gate, holding "large hand tools."

The resident started yelling at the men to leave, at which point they claimed they were from DTE. The resident said he didn't believe them, and was going to call the police, which prompted the three men to run to their truck and drive off toward the Southfield Freeway.

The men were described as two Hispanic and one black male, all in their 30s. The report did not list a description of clothing for any of the suspects. The trio drove away in a light green Ford F-150—however, the resident was not able to obtain the license plate number, as it was covered in mud.
