Police Blotter: 12-Year-Old's Bike Reported Stolen

A young east Dearborn resident reports that his bike was stolen by two boys. Also, a man trying to sell his car finds it damaged and a local church discovers damage to its back door.

12-Year-Old Reports Stolen Bike

A 12-year-old resident of the 6000 block of Maple was playing with friends near the corner of Calhoun and Alber around 3:30 p.m. on April 30 when his bike was stolen, he told .

According to a report, the boy said he left his bike sitting unattended at the corner while he played with friends. When he looked up, he saw one boy on his bike and another on a bike next to him. The owner of the bike yelled at them, but they rode off.

The boy said he recognized one of the boys: a 12-year-old who goes to Lowrey Middle School.

Police searched the area, but were unable to locate the two boys.

Potential Buyer a Suspect in Damage to Car for Sale

A resident of the 22300 block of Outer Drive reported damage to his car on April 30.

The man said his Jeep was for sale and that the damage occurred while it was parked in front of his home between 8 p.m. April 29 and 3 p.m. April 30. The damage included two deep scratches approximately two inches long on the rear left quarter panel that appeared to have been caused by a key. The left rear taillight was also broken.

The owner believes the damage may have been done by a potential buyer who had stopped by on April 29. The man had tried to get the car owner to come down on the price and was angry when he would not comply.

Church Windows Damaged by Air Gun

A maintenance person at the reported that unknown suspects shot and damaged the southwest corner door of the church with what appeared to be an air rifle of some sort–possibly a BB gun. No one gained entry to the church, but pellets went through the double-paned door window.

The incident happened between 10 a.m. April 28 and 8 a.m. April 29.
