Neosporin Bandit Arrested for Shoplifting at Dearborn Kroger

The following information was supplied by the Dearborn Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A 21-year-old Hamtramck man was arrested for allegedly attempting to steal cartons of Neosporin and other miscellaneous items at the Kroger store in Dearborn on Oct. 15.

The incident took place at 7:46 p.m. at 15255 Michigan Ave.

According to reports, officers with the Dearborn Police Department were dispatched to the store after loss prevention staff informed them that they had a suspect in custody.

Security said they observed the man holding several items, including containers of Neosporin. The man turned away from cameras and when he turned back in view of security personnel, the items were visibly missing.

When the man attempted to leave the store, security questioned him about yellow boxes in his jacket pockets. The man said he had stolen the items to pay for something for his child.

A subsequent search revealed $120 worth of merchandise concealed in the man's jacket. The man was taken to the Dearborn Police Department and booked on charges of retail fraud. He was given a $400 cash bond.
