Man Steals Donation Box from Dearborn Pizza

The following information was supplied by the Dearborn Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Dearborn police are searching for a man they say stole a charity donation box containing an unknown amount of money from the customer counter at Dearborn Halal Pizza.

The theft occurred about 9:40 p.m. Sept. 26 at the pizzeria at 14422 Warren Ave., the Dearborn Police Department said.

The man is seen on a surveillance camera walking up to the counter to order. When the employee turns his back, the man leans over and starts tugging on the donation box.

As other customers enter the restaurant, the man stops playing with the box. At approximately 9:45 p.m., surveillance footage shows the man take the box, tuck it under his shirt and leave the store.

The suspect is described as a 25-year-old Arabic male, approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall with dark hair. The man was wearing a black baseball cap with white lettering, a gray long sleeve shirt, khaki shorts and sandals at the time of the theft.

The case is closed pending further investigative leads.
