Man Attempts to Steal Meat from Dearborn Kroger

The following information was supplied by the Dearborn Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A 51-year-old man from Pontiac was arrested for absconding with five packages of meat from the Kroger store in the 23000 block of Michigan Avenue in Dearborn on Aug. 25.

According to police reports, the store's loss prevention security witnessed the man allegedly select the items from the Meat Department, conceal the items in a cloth bag and exit the store.

Store security apprehended the man outside of the store and contacted the Dearborn Police Department. A check of the Law Enforcement Information Network revealed that the man had warrants for retail fraud from Birmingham, Rochester and Plymouth. He also had a weapons charge in Inkster.

The man was arrested and taken to the Dearborn Police Station. He was given a $500 cash bond and charged with second degree retail fraud.
