Man Assaulted in Possible Attempted Home Invasion

A west Dearborn resident was investigating suspicious activity outside of his house Tuesday morning when he was attacked by two men he said were going to break into his home.

A resident of west Dearborn was injured Tuesday morning after he interrupted a suspected attempted robbery of his home.

Dearborn police responded to a call at 11:23 a.m. Tuesday of an injured man lying in the driveway of a home on Chestnut on the city’s west end. The responding officer discovered the that the injured man was the 36-year-old owner of the home, and that he had been attacked by two men he says were trying to break into his house.

According to the homeowner, his dog began barking at something outside his house, and he went outside to investigate. Outside were two men he described as black males with medium builds, both between the ages of 18-25 and wearing blue jeans, black coats and black hats.

Upon confronting the men, the homeowner relayed that he was assaulted by the two men, who then fled on foot.

The homeowner was transported to for his injuries, and was reported as being in surgery as of 3 p.m. Tuesday.

“These types of crimes are the ones that the department will utilize all of its collective resources to investigate and prosecute," Police Chief Ronald Haddad said in a statement.
