Livonia Man Charged with Robbery of Dearborn Fantastic Sam's

Surveillance video gave police a clear shot of the suspect's car, leading to his arrest.

A Livonia man has been charged with armed robbery and larceny from a Dearborn business, police reported Saturday.

Douglas John Fret, 41, has been arrested and arraigned on charges that he robbed the located on Ford Road in Dearborn.

According to Dearborn police, on July 25 at 6:45 p.m., a man walked into the store and passed the receptionist a note instructing her to give him the money from the register. He then placed a gun on the counter and asked if there was more money. The man took the cash, gun and the note and fled to the alley south of the business where his vehicle was parked.

Dearborn police say that surveillance video from a nearby business of the getaway car, combined with the receptionist's description of the suspect, led to Fret's arrest.

Fret was arraigned Saturday on charges of armed robbery and larceny in a building. His bond has been set at $100,000 cash and a preliminary exam has been set for Aug. 12 at 9 a.m. at the .
