A Dearborn Heights man has been sentenced to at least 46 years in prison for the , the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office announced Monday.
Oussama Talal Othman will serve 46 years 10 months to 100 years for the March 26, 2004, second-degree murder of Margaret Sheppard Webb. He was sentenced Monday by Judge Craig Strong in Detroit's Third Circuit Court.
Charges were filed last July against Othman in the 2004 murder of 43-year-old Sheppard Webb, a resident of Dearborn.
The Detroit Police Department Homicide Section was investigating her death for more than seven years.
On March 26, 2004, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Sheppard Webb was discovered dead on the 2800 block of Scotten in Detroit. Police reports indicated that she had suffered severe head trauma and her torso was burned.
A test of male DNA found on Sheppard Webb's body led police to Othman.
Othman was originally charged with first-degree murder, which would have carried a penalty of life in prison without parole.
