UPDATE: Dearborn Heights Resident Arrested in Armed Robbery of Dearborn 7-Eleven

Charges against the woman are still pending, and Dearborn police are still searching for a male accomplice.

An armed robbery was thwarted by Tuesday morning, according to a statement released by the department.

Police responded to a report of a hold up in progress around 4:40 a.m. Tuesday at the on Greenfield Road. According to the Detroit Free Press, a pair of suspects were armed with a gun, but the clerk was not hurt.

The store's owner called the police.

When police arrived, they observed someone inside of the store attempting to open the cash drawer of the register. When the person exited the store, they were arrested.

Police identified the culprit as a 20-year-old female resident of Dearborn Heights.

Police said that they are still searching for a male accomplice in the crime.

Formal charges against the woman are still pending, and her identity has not been released. The investigation into the crime is ongoing.

Police Chief Ronald Haddad applauded the swift work of the caller for helping lead police to the arrest.

"Fortunately our officers acted quickly and were able to take this suspect into custody without injuries to anyone," Haddad said in a statement. "We rely on tips from the community to improve our quality of life.”
