Dearborn firefighters were dispatched to the building on Monroe Street north of Michigan Avenue early Monday morning.

Dearborn Fire Department officials say an arsonist may be to blame for a fire that destroyed part of the Village Coin Shop building in west Dearborn on Monday.

According to Fire Marshal Laura Ridenour, firefighters were dispatched to 942 Monroe St. around 3 a.m. Monday morning and were on the scene for approximately three hours.

Ridenour said no injuries were reported, however she could not comment on any details about the case.

"There is an open arson investigation going on. If anyone has any information, they are encouraged to call us at 313-943-2839, or the detective bureau at the Dearborn Police Department, 313-943-2255," she said.

The Michigan Arson Prevention Committee is offering a reward of $5,000 for information leading to the arrest or conviction of a suspect in connection to the fire. To use the anonymous tip line, call 1-800-44-ARSON.
