Drunken CPL Holder Arrested for Having Loaded Gun in Dearborn

The man immediately told police about his loaded gun and CPL, but was arrested for possessing the weapon while intoxicated.

A man with a Concealed Pistol License was arrested in Dearborn Dec. 14 for possession of a loaded 9mm handgun while intoxicated.

He was a back-seat passenger in a 2004 black Chevrolet Impala that was pulled over around midnight on southbound Greenfield Road near Blesser, for a cracked windshield and because the front-seat passenger wasn’t wearing his seat belt.

The man, 30, immediately told police that he had a gun on him and that he was a CPL holder. Police confiscated the weapon, which was loaded, and gave him a breathalyzer test after smelling alcohol on him and seeing that he was uneasy on his feet. His blood-alcohol level was 0.19 percent.

Police also smelled a strong marijuana odor coming from the car, according to the police report. The driver claimed that his brother used the car earlier to smoke the drug, and a search of the vehicle turned up no contraband.

The driver was ticketed for defective equipment and for not having a valid license. Police allowed the front-seat passenger -who had a valid license- to drive the car, the report said.
