Dearborn Resident Scammed by Fake Dish Network Representative

An incident of fraud was reported Wednesday by a Dearborn resident, according to police reports.
A resident of the 7800 block of Ternes told police that on Jan. 19, she received a call from a man who identified himself as "Adam Butler," and said he worked for Dish Network. The man told her that if she paid $346 up front, she would receive the company's premium channel package continuously.
The resident called the 800 number back, and told police that the man answered saying "Dish Network, this is Adam," leading her to believe that the call was legitimate.

"Adam" told her to check her channels; she did, noticing that new premium channels were now available, and paid the $346 via PayPal.
However, on Jan. 29, the resident said she got her Dish Network bill and found that she had been charged for a premium upgrade. When she tried to call the 800 number again, she found that it was no longer in service.
