Police Seek Public's Help With Homicide Investigation at Family Dollar Store

Police are seeking information on Brenna Kathleen Machus, a 20-year-old woman from Romulus.

DEARBORN — Dearborn police are investigating a homicide that occurred at the Family Dollar store located at 22631 Michigan Ave. on July 15.

According to police, employees opening the store on Tuesday morning called 911 after finding the store in disarray. The victim, a 20-year-old Dearborn man, was located by officers and had apparently been shot sometime on Monday evening.

Police are currently seeking Brenna Kathleen Machus, a 20-year-old white female from Romulus. It is believed that she may currently be in danger and anyone who knows her whereabouts or who saw or communicated with her since July 15, should contact the Dearborn Police Department immediately at 313-943-2241.

"Our investigation is ongoing and all of our resources are currently being utilized to locate Ms. Machus and identify and apprehend the perpetrator of this vicious crime," chief Ronald Haddad said.

Crime Stoppers of Michigan is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest of the perpetrator and/or the recovery of Machus.

Callers may provide information anonymously by calling 1-800-SPEAK UP. Citizens are urged not to approach anyone who they believe may be involved in this case, but should contact police immediately.

Bryn Winburn, a public relations spokeswoman for Family Dollar, said the retail company is working with police to understand the situation and declined to release a statement to the press as of Tuesday morning.
