UPDATE: Dearborn Police Searching for Suspected Robber of Bank of America Branch

The bank, located on Michigan Avenue near Oakman Boulevard, was robbed on Friday morning.

Dearborn police are searching for a man who they say made off with cash from a local Bank of America branch Friday morning.

According to police, the bank – located on Michigan Avenue near Oakman Boulevard – was held up by an unknown suspect at 9:33 a.m. Friday.

Witnesses told police that the man entered the bank, announced the hold up and implied that he was armed. No weapon was actually spotted by any witnesses.

The suspect was described as a male with a dark complexion, estimated to be in his 20s. He had an average build and was around six feet tall.

The man was wearing a bright green safety vest with the word "visitor" written on the back, green camoflage pants and a light-colored floppy hat.

The suspect fled in a vehicle northbound on Oakman.

Later review of surveillance tapes revealed the getaway vehicle to possibly be a Chrysler van, deep purple in color.

Dearborn police are asking for the public's assistance in locating the man, and are asking that anyone with information relating to the robbery call the at 313-943-2241.
