Dearborn Police Nab Team Attempting to Steal Catalytic Converters

Three people have been arrested for attempting to steal catalytic converters from vehicles parked at Fairlane Town Center in Dearborn, police said in a press release.

According to reports, at approximately 2:06 p.m. on June 16, officers with the Dearborn Police Department were dispatched to Star AMC Theater in response to a catalytic converter theft complaint. A call from a witness stated that they heard a cutting saw and observed a black male under an Oldsmobile silhouette, a black female lookout and another black female inside of a blue PT Cruiser.

Officers located the PT Cruiser in the parking lot and recovered two catalytic converters, a saw and numerous saw blades from the vehicle. A 24-year-old woman and a 22-year-old woman from Detroit, along with a 19-year-old man from Eastpointe were arrested.

All three suspects were arraigned on felony larceny charges, malicious destruction of property and receiving and concealing stolen property in the 19th District Court by Judge William Hultgren.

Bond for the 24-year-old and 19-year-old was set at $10,000 cash, while the 22-year-old received a $5,000 cash bond. All three suspects are not allowed near Fairlane Town Center and must wear a GPS tether. All three suspects were bound over to the Wayne County Circuit Court.

“I would like to commend the witness for coming forward to help facilitate this arrest," Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said.
