Dearborn Police Investigating Robbery/Homicide at Family Dollar Store

A robbery occurred at the company's Michigan Avenue location late Monday evening.

Dearborn police are investigating a robbery-homicide that occurred at the Family Dollar store on Michigan Avenue near Outer Drive on Monday.

Officers on the scene had the store roped off early Tuesday morning.

Police Chief Ronald Haddad didn’t immediately release information on who had been killed, but said investigators are very involved in the case.

"We will investigate this crime fully and use our entire resources to bring it to an end," Haddad said.

Haddad's office said information may be forthcoming to the press this afternoon.

An employee at neighboring business ACO Hardware said she was working Monday night but didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

"One of our employees on break noticed Family Dollar's lights were on and two female employees working around 8 p.m.," she said.

Bryn Winburn, a public relations spokeswoman for Family Dollar, said the retail company is working with police to understand the situation and declined to release a statement to the press as of Tuesday morning.
