The Dearborn Police Department is investigating two vehicle thefts that occurred this week.

The first incident took place near the intersection of Mead and Colson streets. According to police reports, a 49-year-old Dearborn woman came to the police station to report that her 1999 black Saab convertible was stolen between 3 p.m. May 21 and 8:30 a.m. on May 22.

The woman told police that her car broke down on the afternoon of May 21 and she was unable to start the engine. When she returned to the location the next morning, the car was missing. Officers performed a search on the Michigan Law Enforcement Information Network and determined that the car was not impounded.

Upon arrival, officers met with a 48-year-old woman, who told police that she parked her 2012 Lincoln in her driveway around 10 p.m. May 21. At approximately 8:30 a.m. May 22 she discovered the vehicle missing.

The woman informed police that she had both sets of keys in her possession, and officers observed broken glass in the driveway where the vehicle was parked, according to reports. Officers conducted a search of the neighborhood with negative results.

A laptop valued at $500, Gucci sunglasses valued at $500, and miscellaneous men's clothing valued at $1,500 were left in the car. The items are listed as stolen property, and the case remains under investigation.
