Dearborn Police Increase Patrols in Shopping Areas, Neighborhoods

Officers are encouraging local residents to report suspicious behavior to help deter summer crime.

The Dearborn Police Department will increase security patrols in shopping areas and neighborhoods for the summer. Police will also focus on traffic enforcement throughout the city.

"In an effort to reduce summer criminal activity and reduce traffic crashes the Dearborn Police Department will conduct proactive police patrols in areas that are common to traffic violations and criminal activity," officials said in a press release.

Increased patrols began on June 23.

The Dearborn Police Department is reminding residents to use the suspicious activity tip line available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The phone number is directly linked to the Police Dispatch Center. Residents can remain anonymous when calling.

Residents should report any suspicious people or cars in your neighborhood to the police.

Examples of suspicious activity may include: 
• Vehicles that do not belong in the area 
• Vehicles that are observed circling the area
