Dearborn Police Department Hires 6 Officers

The City of Dearborn welcomed six new officers to the Dearborn Police Department this month, sworn in by Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad.

During the ceremony, Chief Haddad stressed to the new officers the “importance of following the U.S. Constitution while serving the citizens of Dearborn.” 

Mayor O’Reilly added that “it is the duty of all Dearborn police officers to serve the citizens of Dearborn with the superior service that our residents have grown accustomed to.”

The new officers are:

• Bradley Clair, a 28-year-old graduate of Wayne State University who honorably served in the U.S. Coast Guard and participated in “Operation Enduring Freedom.” Clair was also voted squad leader while in the Oakland Police Academy.
• John Balowski, 27, who attended Wayne State University as well as Eastern Michigan University and also honorably served five years in the U.S. Army. Balowski finished academically at the top of his class while attending the Oakland Police Academy.
• Derrall Hill Jr., a 24-year-old graduate of Madonna University who was also a Dearborn police dispatcher prior to becoming an officer. Hill presented the traditional Code of Ethics recitation at the academy graduation ceremony, which prompted Academy Director Richard Tillman to comment that Hill gave the “best rendition of the Code of Ethics that he has heard in 25 years.”
• Adel Saleh, a 31-year-old Dearborn resident who is a graduate of the University of Phoenix and a former member of the Las Vegas Metro Police Department.
• Thomas Golden, a 24-year-old graduate of Rochester College. Golden also attended Oakland University Honors College as well as the prestigious Specs Howard School of Media Arts.
• Steven Vert, a 26-year-old graduate of Schoolcraft Community College where he earned a criminal justice degree. Vert also earned a Private Investigations Certificate from Madonna University and worked as a police dispatcher for the city of Ferndale.

Both Chief Haddad and Mayor O’Reilly recognized these officers as “high achievers” who will begin a two-week in-house orientation program before starting their patrol activities on Dec. 31.
