Dearborn Police Arrest Suspect for Attempting to Rob Dollar General Store

The following information was supplied by the Dearborn Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A 53-year-old Detroit man was arraigned on armed robbery charges Wednesday at the 19th District Court in Dearborn for attempting to rob a Dollar General store located at 7630 Wyoming St.

According to a press release, police officers were dispatched to the store on July 21 after employees reported that a man, later identified as Donald Johnson of Detroit, entered the store, selected a candy bar and demanded all of the money in the register.

Johnson also stated he had a gun and would open fire if his demands were not met, police said. He then left the store and was apprehended by officers.

"Armed robbery is a violent crime and the Dearborn Police Department utilizes all available resources to bring the perpetrators of such crimes to justice. This type of criminal activity will not be tolerated in this city," chief Ronald Haddad said.
