Dearborn Man Injured in House Fire on Argyle Street

Firefighters rescued a 70-year-old man from an upstairs bedroom fire late Sunday evening.

Dearborn firefighters said a 70-year-old man was injured in a house fire Sunday evening on Argyle Street in Dearborn.

The man was pulled from his house in the 6000 block of Argyle Street by firefighters dispatched to the home around 10:30 p.m., according to Battalion Chief Andrew Lenaghan.

Lenaghan said the victim was found in an upstairs bedroom with "severe burns to his extremities" and injuries from smoke inhalation. He was transported to Detroit Receiving Hospital.

"The guys from our station on Schaefer Road did an excellent job," Lenaghan said. "They got on scene and were able to extract the victim out of the house quickly."

The fire originated and was contained to the upper bedroom, officials said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Lenaghan said firefighters from Dearborn stations 1, 3 and 4 responded to the scene.
