A witness inside of the vehicle he was stealing from didn't stop an alleged thief this week, according to reports.
A resident of Hamtramck told police that on July 6 around 5:15 pm., he was running errands with his wife in Dearborn. The couple stopped at the Restaurant Depot at 12970 prospect, parking their Chevy Tahoe in the back alley. The man went in while his wife stayed in the car.
According to reports, a short time later, a white commercial mini-van pulled up behind their truck. A driver stayed behind while another man allegedly got up, punched the back window of the Tahoe repeatedly until it broke, and stole $1,500 of cartons of cigarettes located in the back of the truck.
Meanwhile, the woman inside began screaming and honking the horn. The thief, she told police, looked up at her and then went back to his business of robbing them.
She described the man as an Arab male around the age of 28 or 29. He was wearing a white T-shirt. The driver, she said, was also an Arab male. The woman told police that she would be able to identify the man if she saw him again.
