The following information was supplied by the Dearborn Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A thief made off with 40 containers of nail polish from a Dearborn beauty store recently, according to Dearborn police reports.

Police were called to Sally Beauty Supply on Ford Road at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, after an employee said she witnessed the theft.

According to the employee, she watched a woman enter the store and select the bottles of nail polish from the shelves, placing them in her purse. Several employees approached the woman to confront her, at which point she fled the store and drove off in a grey or silver Ford Edge.

The employee told police that she was unsure of exactly how many bottles of polish were stolen, but that it appeared to be around 40—about $200 worth of nail polish.

Employees described the woman to police as a black female in her 30s, around 5-foot-8 and heavy set, with black hair with blonde streaks and visible acne on her cheeks and chin.

They were also able to see the license plate of the vehicle she drove off in, which revealed that it was registered to a Detroit resident.

No arrests were reported as of the following day.
