A resident of the Kenilworth home where a break-in was reported March 4 said that he came home around 11:30 p.m. and saw a large man–around 6-foot-five and weighing 250 pounds–in his kitchen doorway. The resident, who lives there with his mom, told police that the man ran out and jumped over the fence, but did not appear to steal anything.

In the worst of the thefts, a family of seven living on Bingham Street told police that the culprit had made off with $80,000 worth of jewelry from their home on March 2.

The eldest female and mother of three children–all of whom live at the house–said that she had recently had her jewelry appraised for insurance purposes. The thief, she said, had taken 42 pieces of jewelry totaling $78,534 in value. The remaining $2,100 in jewelry belonged to her husband.
