Dearborn police arrested two suspects for attempting to steal $300 worth of plumbing tools from Home Depot on Oct. 7.

According to reports, officers were dispatched to the store at 5951 Mercury Drive after loss prevention security reported a 53-year-old man and 33-year-old female from Detroit were being detained.

Employees told police that they witnessed the man select multiple items from the plumbing aisle and place them in his cart. Both suspects walked to the end of the aisle, where the woman put the items in her purse while the man stood as a lookout.

The man and woman proceeded to the self checkout lane and purchased $3.49 worth of merchandise. The couple was confronted by security and escorted back inside the store when they attempted to leave.

Both suspects were booked on charges of third degree retail fraud and given a $400 bond.
