Citizen Alerts Police to Possible Break-In; Two Brothers in Custody

Two Detroit men remain in the Wayne County Jail after they were charged with burglary charges. Both are habitual offenders.

After a passerby alerted Dearborn police to a break-in in progress at a pharmacy on the city’s northeast side early Saturday morning, authorities took two Detroit brothers into custody.

Police got the tip about 5:50 a.m. about suspicious activity in the vicinity of Kentucky and Diversey, The Press & Guide reports. Three men were walking near the intersection, one carrying a duffel bag and what appeared to be a crowbar.

When police arrived at the scene, they saw two men. As they got closer, one of them dropped th bag and both fled.

Police found pry marks on the metal door of the Eastborn RX Pharmacy at 7526 Wyoming.

Arrested were Brothers Lamont Travis, 22,  and  Lamarion Cortez Travis, 20, both of detroit.

They were arraigned Tuesday before 19th District Judge Sam Salamey on breaking and entering, possession of burglary tools and habitual fourth offender charges.

Each remains in jail on $250,000 bond. If they’re able to post 10 percent, they will be required o wear electronic monitoring devices.

A preliminary examination of the evidence against them will be held at 9 a.m. April 11.
