Car Stolen at Gas Pump While Driver Was Inside the Station

The driver had left the keys in the ignition and the car unlocked, according to the police report.

Two suspects were caught on security camera stealing a 2003 green Venture van from the Citgo gas station located at 10000 Michigan Ave., around 8:15 p.m. on Jan. 7.

The driver of the vehicle had apparently left the car running and unlocked, with the keys in the ignition, before entering the station to pay for gas. Surveillance footage then showed one of the suspects running up to the van and jumping in before exiting the station toward I-94 westbound, the report said.

The driver was able to catch a glimpse of the suspects' vehicle, which appeared to be a black Lincoln LS, before the second suspect also fled the scene.

Police searched the area for both vehicles but were unable to find either.

The suspects are believed to be black males, one wearing all black, both with an unknown weight and height.

The driver's iPhone, a baby stroller, car seat, air compressor and bag of clothes were in the van when it was stolen. Police attempted to track the vehicle using the driver's iPhone app "Find My iPhone," but were unable to do so.
