UPDATE: Warren Man Charged in String of Recent Thefts from Cars
Jason Robert Lake was arrested early Wednesday morning and arraigned Friday on charges that he stole multiple items from cars parked in Dearborn's west end.
Following multiple arrests made by Dearborn police over the past week–including charges for , and –another suspect was arrested early Wednesday morning on charges that he stole items from multiple cars parked in front of homes on Dearborn's west end.
Jason Robert Lake, a 36-year-old Warren resident, was arraigned Friday at the . Charges against him include four counts of felony larceny from vehicles, seven counts of stealing financial transactions devices (i.e. credit cards), and one misdemeanor charge of receiving or concealing stolen property.
According to a report from Dearborn police, officers observed a suspicious 1999 green Ford Explorer in the area of Denwood and Marshall at 3:40 a.m. Wednesday morning. They watched as the suspect parked on Marshall, exited the SUV and then got back in and drove to the area of Telegraph and South Rosevere Street.

Plainclothes officers set up surveillance in the area and observed the suspect as he approached several vehicles parked in driveways and on streets, peering into them with a flashlight and pulling on door handles.
The suspect was subsequently arrested, and multiple items were recovered–including wallets, credit cards, a cell phone, GPS units, keys, money and jewelry.

Of the most recent arrest, Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said in a statement, “This is a crime of opportunity. The suspect was entering unlocked vehicles. I can’t stress enough how important it is for residents to remove all valuables from their vehicles and lock the doors.”
Lake's bond was set at $250,000 and his preliminary exam is set for 9 a.m. Aug. 19 at the 19th District Court.
