7-Year-Old Boy Helps Mother Allegedly Shoplift in Dearborn

Security officers watched as the duo removed several electronics from their packaging and placed the items into the boy's coat pocket.

A Dearborn woman was arrested for Retail Fraud Jan. 7, after allegedly shoplifting several items from the Walmart on Mercury Drive– with the help of her 7-year-old son.

Security officers watched as the duo removed several electronics from their packaging, passed them back and forth, and placed the items into the boy's coat pocket.

The woman, 41, also put the boy in her shopping cart and allegedly placed several items underneath him in an attempt to conceal them, the report said.

She then proceeded through checkout, without paying for said items. Security stopped them outside the store around 9:45 p.m. and recovered the items.

Police arrested the woman for stealing, and her bond was set at $400 for third-degree Retail Fraud and $200 for aiding a minor in breaking the law.

The boy was released into his grandfather's custody, according to police.
